Warning regarding the structural risks of independent disassembly and reassembly
Warning regarding structural risks of independent disassembly and reassembly
1. Purpose and scope
This warning concerns Forentiax outdoor sun loungers designed to be assembled, adjusted, disassembled, or reassembled by the user according to the instructions provided with the model. It describes the main mechanical risks, necessary checks, and the division of responsibilities between Forentiax and the customer.
It does not replace the specific manual. Design, components, attachment points, maximum load, tools, and sequence may vary; in case of discrepancies, the instructions for the specific model must be followed. If the instructions are missing, illegible, or do not correspond to the components received, the customer must not proceed and must contact Forentiax.
2. Nature of risks
Disassembly temporarily alters the structural integrity. An unfixed element, an incomplete lock, or a part mounted in the wrong direction can cause instability, sudden collapse, local failure, or loss of alignment. Hinges, guides, levers, and joints can create pinch points for fingers and hands.
Risks increase when work is performed on sloped, slippery, or uneven ground, with unsuitable tools, in rain or wind, while the product is still loaded, or without sufficient space. Children, pets, and bystanders must stay out of the work area.
3. Before starting
The customer must read the instructions in full and verify they can complete the entire operation. Before loosening any fastener, they should:
1) remove cushions, objects, and any load;
2) place the sun lounger on a flat, stable, dry, and clear surface;
3) identify parts, hardware, spacers, covers, and locking devices;
4) verify that the tools match those indicated;
5) photograph the position and orientation of components before removal, if useful;
6) prepare separate containers for screws, nuts, washers, pins, and small elements;
7) check that no part is under tension or could fall when released.
The operation must not be started if a component is deformed, corroded, cracked, or jammed, if a fastener is missing, if the manual requires two people and a second person is not available, or if the user cannot safely support the weight of the parts.
4. Controlled disassembly
The indicated sequence must be followed without removing multiple load-bearing elements simultaneously. The freed part must be supported before removing the final fastener. Do not force hinges, springs, guides, or reclining mechanisms, nor use hammers, levers, or lubricants unless specified.
Each component must be set down in a way that does not bend tubes, frames, edges, or surfaces. Hardware must not be mixed with elements from other furniture, even if visually similar. Screws with different lengths, diameters, threads, or strength ratings may fit in the housing without providing the expected hold.
It is not permitted to cut, drill, weld, grind, enlarge holes, remove permanent stops, or modify the mechanism to speed up disassembly. A structural modification changes the conditions evaluated for use and may create non-visible risks.
5. Reassembly and tightening
Reassembly must follow the required order. Components must be oriented as shown, without inverting sides, fronts, supports, or spacers. Before final tightening, all relevant fasteners must be correctly inserted, and alignment must be checked, avoiding the use of excessive force to compensate for misalignment.
If the manual specifies a tightening torque, it must be observed using an appropriate tool. In the absence of a specific value, the customer must not invent a setting or continue tightening to the point of deforming the tube, washer, plastic, or thread. Insufficient tightening can cause parts to loosen; excessive tightening can damage the seat and reduce structural capacity.
Self-locking nuts, washers, pins, cotter pins, caps, and stops must be reinstalled in their intended positions. A damaged, worn, or lost element must not be replaced with a generic part without confirming compatibility. The customer must suspend assembly and request instructions.
6. Hinges, reclining, and crush points
Moving mechanisms must be operated from the designated grip areas, keeping fingers, fabrics, and objects away from hinges. Before sitting down, the backrest and any adjustable parts must reach a stable position, and the relevant lock must be fully engaged.
Do not adjust the mechanism while another person is seated, lean on an unlocked part, or use the backrest as a lever to drag the product. Unusual resistance, new metallic noises, sudden shifting, or asymmetrical locking require immediate discontinuation of use.
7. Pre-use check
After reassembly, the sun lounger must be checked without a person on it. On a flat surface, check for:
1) stable contact of all supports;
2) absence of wobbling, twisting, or abnormal misalignment;
3) full engagement of pins, locks, and stops;
4) uniform tightening and absence of unexplained leftover hardware;
5) smooth movement of adjustable parts;
6) absence of sharp edges, deformed tubes, cracks, or trapped fabric.
Only after this check may a load be applied gradually, without exceeding the model's specific limit. Jumping, swinging, sitting on edges not intended for load, or allowing use by multiple people when not permitted can generate stresses higher than those of normal use.
8. Periodic checks and outdoor environment
Vibrations, movement, thermal variations, and repeated use can gradually loosen fasteners. The customer should periodically inspect stability, hardware, hinges, and supports and repeat the check after transport, long-term storage, or intense weather events.
The product must not be used if it shows structural rust, cracks, deformations, missing pins, damaged threads, or uncertain locks. Wind can move or tip over a lightweight structure; when not in use, it must be stored or secured according to the instructions, without creating makeshift anchors that load non-designed points.
9. When to request competent assistance
The customer must stop the operation if they do not understand a step, cannot align components without forcing them, find unillustrated parts, do not possess the tools, or cannot safely handle the weight. In these cases, they may contact Forentiax for clarification and, when complexity requires it, seek assistance from a person competent in furniture assembly.
The intervention of a third party does not automatically transfer liability for execution to Forentiax. Likewise, an assembler cannot correct a defective part or inconsistent instructions through modifications: such issues must be reported before continuing.
10. Customer responsibility
The customer is responsible for damages caused exclusively by failure to follow instructions, loss or incompatible replacement of components, manifestly incorrect tightening, exceeding the declared load, use before inspection, structural modification, or continued use despite clear signs of instability.
Liability does not arise simply because assembly was carried out independently when the product is intended for such a mode and the instructions were followed correctly. Forentiax does not assume customer error without examining components, documentation, and specific circumstances.
11. Forentiax responsibility
Forentiax must deliver compliant, complete, and identifiable components, provide understandable instructions, and provide warnings proportionate to foreseeable risks. It remains liable for original defects in design, material, or manufacturing, missing or incompatible parts, incorrect or insufficient instructions, and damages to which such deficiencies have contributed.
This warning does not exclude consumer rights or liability for personal injury or non-transferable safety obligations. If a defect is confirmed, Forentiax shall apply appropriate remedies at no cost. If the damage results from multiple causes, the assessment considers the actual contribution of each and does not automatically attribute the entire event to one party.
12. Reporting a structural problem
In the event of instability, collapse, or a damaged component, the customer must immediately stop use and prevent access to the product. Do not attempt further tests under load. The report should include:
1) order number and relevant model;
2) the stage where the problem appeared;
3) overall and close-up photographs of the structure, fasteners, and damaged part;
4) indication of any leftover or missing components;
5) description of the tools used and any noises, movement, or deformation observed.
Forentiax may request not to disassemble the part further to preserve its state, or provide instructions for a safe inspection. Lack of photographs does not automatically waive rights if the issue can be verified by other means.
13. Return policy
This warning does not reduce the return period of up to 30 days from delivery. In the first 14 days, assembly necessary to verify nature, characteristics, and functioning does not waive the right of withdrawal; further handling or damages attributable to the customer may affect the refund only to the extent of the documented decrease in value. From the 15th to the 30th day, the terms of the voluntary extension already communicated shall apply.
A product must not be precariously reassembled solely for the purpose of returning it. Forentiax provides instructions for safely packing the structure and hardware to avoid risks during handling and transport.
